Kate Upton Suffered Through Freezing Sports Illustrated Shoot

Kate Upton started to lose her hearing and eyesight while shooting the cover of the new Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition in Antarctica because her body was shutting down from the cold.

The busty beauty landed the front page of the saucy publication for the second year in a row and in late 2012 she jetted to the southernmost continent for the spread.

Dressed in skimpy clothing and scarves and snow boots, Upton struggled to contend with the freezing temperatures, and she dealt with the side effects for months afterwards.

During an appearance on U.S. breakfast show Today on Tuesday (12Feb13), she said, "When I came back I was losing hearing and eyesight because my body was shutting down; it was working so hard to keep me warm... It was freezing.

"I'm from Florida, so it wasn't great for me...?I could really only do it for a minute (at a time), and then everyone would come running and throw blankets on top of me...

(and) hold me". However, the area's natural beauty made it all worthwhile "It was the most beautiful place I've ever been.

Every time, before I took off my coat, I would enjoy just the views.

The mountains were pink, the water was glass, it looked like little ice cubes were in the water, it was gorgeous...

The penguins kept me going, they're adorable and anytime I was like, 'I can't do it anymore, I can't,' I would look at them and I was like, 'OK, (I'll do it) for them.'"
